Clackmannanshire Councillor Brian Fearon`s report
1 Single status /equal pay this is a national issue that will probable cost Clacks Council in the region of £1 million
2 Homelessness- the 2002 housing act means that people can come to local authorities and declare themselves homeless Clacks Council have 300 people presenting themselves as homeless every year. The council feels that local housing authorities do not accept their fair share of the more problematic people. A new homelessness strategy is being developed but it will not reduce the number of people on the waiting list
3 BEST VALUE AUDIT. This is really a performance Audit of the Councils services. It will compare how Clacks Council do compared to other Councils Inverclyde got a very poor report and people were drafted in to take over whereas West Lothian received a very high rating.
4 Litter has worsened again and the Council will re-address the issue and it is hoped to re-introduce weekend working for the staff.
5 Roundabouts – Councillor Carrick is continuing to seek sponsorship to do up the roundabouts. The hope is to improve them since these are the gateway to Clackmannanshire to impress tourists and other visitors.
6 H.M.I.E- The schools inspectorate visited July to Oct last year but have only just published their report it will be able to be viewed on Clacks Website the report noted an improvement in a number of areas including pupil attainment.

Gala news from Lynne
As commented on in matters arising Ochilveiw Housing has agreed to sponsor our Gala by paying for the stewards T-shirts with a proviso that their logo be presnt on the shirt to which the council agreed and since the council was going to pay for these from their own pockets it is welcomed. Lynne informed us she has£75 towards the gala fund from promised stalls. She received a letter in response to her application to Snowie`sCommuinty Fund but unfortunately since it is under review at the moment they can gives us no financial support for our Gala day at the present time.H.L.I.has offered us any help they can and the same with the Credit Union. There will be a Falconry display and Eric Ferguson the dog handler class are on holiday says he will put on a small display for the Gala.Stef Gavin has gratefully volunteered to organise the football competition. There will be a display from the re-enactment society. And officer Simms of the army cadets is willing to help if the need arises Fire brigade display to be finalised. A clown who will do face painting at a reasonable cost, LADA, Kenny Cook will run the races and bring needed equipment.
Councillor Fearon donated a bottle of Malt whisky to raffle for funds he will hand it to Lynne as soon as possible.
