A.O.C.B.

It was with some regret that the Chairman had to inform the Community Council that because of commitments to other projects that Community Councillor A Scobbie had tendered his resignation he will be sadly missed and wish him well and thank him for his work for the Community.
It has been arranged for a Table Top day at the Tron Shopping centre to help raise funds for the war memorial at £5 a table we hope to raise a healthy amount the Community Council table will be looked after by L. McLean. T. Davidson cannot make the day but will donate the biscuit and tea makings. The Secretary will poster the event and inform the local press. It has been decided the 13th Aug would be the ideal date.
Tracey Duff is hoping to arrange a meeting with the French students at the H.L.I offices to try and ease the tension that can exist when they visit the village every year.
The minutes will be left at Lynne’s shop for the uplift by the Community Councillors 1 week before the Community monthly meetings because of hospital commitments this will start on the September meeting.
Some concern was shown about the burst water pipe that left areas of Newmills with no water and it was thought that a letter be sent to Scottish Water to complain about the hole which was left with fencing left insecure around it.
Also there seems to be no Bus Stops in the Newmills area since the Signs have been taken away Susan McGhee has started a petition against the change in bus routes in case the area is left without a bus service.

War Memorial Update

The application for a heritage lottery grant is almost complete, the hold up is due to Grant Eals awaiting information from the head of land services development, when this is forthcoming the application will be submitted to the Edinburgh office for lottery grants.
