Volunteers needed – You can make a difference!
What is Forth Valley Advocacy?
We provide an independent advocacy service for people living
the Forth Valley Area. We provide advocacy for older people
and people with mental health issues.
Who needs me?
Older people in NHS continuing care and other Community
settings, i.e. Care Homes. They may not have regular contact
with family or friends or may need extra support. By volunteering,
you can help them to improve their quality of life.
What would I need to do?
Spend an hour a week with your older person on a regular basis,
ensuring that their views and opinions are listened to.
We provide training, support and advice. Travel expenses will
be paid and it doesn’t affect your benefits.

| 09-Jun-2008 | DELPH POND FOOTPATHS | Last year the council did an inspection of the delph pond area they found that the footpaths were becoming dangerous and removed them, these caused problems of access for wheelchair users, the ageded and infirm and mothers with push chairs. The community council had several complaints regarding this so we approached the council to reinstall the footpaths; their answer was they did not have a budget to do this.
We then set up a group called the delph pond forum which consisted of the community council, Tullibody history group, the council for voluntary services and the council housing department, we got estimates for the work and then started the fund raising process. We applied to the big lottery breathing spaces fund and were successful with our bid, we received £9,976. We hope to have the footpaths reinstalled before the winter sets in, we will then look for funding to install new benches and picnic tables.
